BOXING YOUNG Fighters from Chadwell St Mary Amateur Boxing Club have notched up five more wins.
Eleven-year-old James Josling (29kg) reecently took on R Sparkes from Harwich at the Hornchurch & Elm Park Open Show. And the borough fighter proved to be far too strong for his opponent – allowing him to keep his undefeated record in tact.
Chadwell’s Alfie Fleming, 12, (42kg) also boxed on the same show and gave a faultless performance against Jenson Mulqueen from Holland Shore in a skills bout. Coaches now believe the youngster is ready to fight on the Gator ABC show in Chigwell.
Another Chadwell fighter, 15-year-old Ian Farrell (54kg) travelled to Norwich to box K Lancaster of Attleborough ABC and won his bout by a unanimous decision which had the crowd on its feet.
Chadwell’s Jay Healy, 14, (44kg) and George Hart, 14, (46kg) both boxed on the Sudbury show in Suffolk. Healy outclassed and outworked his opponent, A Scopes from Southend, and logged a unanimous win.
Teamate George Hart dug deep and also secured himself a win against the host club’s Jack Burgess.
But it was a frustrating affair for others. Sam Lee, 12, (50kg) and Shea Russell-Meade, 17, (66kg) were unable to box when both their opponents failed to make the matched weight.
