East Thurrock 1-2 Needham Market
From Rookery Hill
Ryman Premier League
EAST Thurrock United’s six match winning run came to an end after a late own goal saw Needham Market claim a surprising victory.
Rocks fell behind on the stroke of half-time, with a strike from Michael Brothers that appeared to hit goalkeeper Lukas Lidakevicius on the way into the goal.
Either way the goal stood and East Thurrock went into the break behind.
But 10 minutes into the half the home team was level.
The speedy Harry Honesty scored in the absence of strikers Sam Higgins and James Walker to draw parity.
Five minutes from time midfielder Kris Newby made his return after dislocating his elbow earlier in the season, but Needham were to have the last laugh – as an Ashley Miller own goal ended Rocks’ run.
East Thurrock: Lidakevicius, Miller, Peddie, Scott, Hayles, Wood, Sammons (Anderson), Craddock, Honesty (Newby), Smith, Wraight
