TWO Kurt Smith strikes helped Tilbury to pick up their first win of the Isthmian North season, as the Dockers came from behind to defeat local rivals Canvey Island.
Tilbury secured a 3-2 win, with the winner coming five minutes from time.
Smith was heavily involved and gave Gary Henty's side the lead inside three minutes.
But the Dockers' dangerman put through his own net after 26 minutes to get Canvey back on level terms.
And the hosts took a 2-1 lead six minutes before half-time thanks to a Ryan Charles effort.
Tilbury pushed for a leveller and it came with 13 minutes to play, as Gulls goalkeeper Conor Gough could not keep out an effort from Adam Vyse.
And Smith made amends for his earlier own goal as he notched his second goal of the night - at the right end - on 85 minutes to help Tilbury to bounce back from their last minute defeat to Grays Athletic in the opening game of the season.
Meanwhile, Aveley bounced back from their defeat to Bowers & Pitsea in the Isthmian North curtain-raiser by getting the better of Waltham Abbey.
Central defender Tommy Spillane found the back of the net on 21 minutes, and it proved to be the only goal of the game.
Elsewhere, Thurrock suffered their second defeat of the Isthmian Premier League season as they fell to a 2-1 loss at Needham Market.
First half goals from Callum Harrison and Ryan Gibbs gave Mark Stimson's side an uphill battle at Bloomfields.
And although Jordan Clark reduced the arrears with seven minutes remaining, it proved too late for Fleet to fashion a comeback despite the hosts being reduced to 10 men late on as Luke Ingram picked up a second yellow card.
