SOUTHEND United head coach Kevin Maher insists he will not be rushed into adding to his squad.
Blues have been beaten five times in six games since Maher’s appointment and remain just above the relegation zone.
But Maher is determined to bring in the right kind of players.
“We’ve changed a lot at the club behind the scenes,” said Maher.
“What we can’t do is bring the wrong ones in because I think that’s happened too often.
“When we do bring people in it’s got to be right because we can’t afford to get too many wrong.
“It has to be the right player at the right time and when it is we will do business but first and foremost we’ve got to concentrate on the players in the building and getting the most out of them.
“We will give them every chance to perform.”
And when asked if any new players were close to joining Maher replied: “Not as yet.”
