BOROUGH anglers have been hitting the flatfish over the new year period.
Flounders have been caught in Thurrock in decent numbers, giving those prepared to wait plenty of sport. SOUTHEND PIER: Showing small whiting and dabs. Best bait is for the dabs is small cubes of kipper.
SOUTHEND BEACHES: Quiet with just the odd flounder.
SOUTHEND BOATS: Lots of dabs, a few whiting.
RIVER CROUCH: Charter boast report lots of dabs.
EAST COAST: On Clacton Pier the odd codling, dabs and small whiting.
WALTON PIER: Richard Holgate reports plenty of dabs with the odd cod to 7lb.
GRAYS WHARF: A few flounder and some small whiting.
THURROCK YACHT CLUB: Better flounder from the beach, up to eight a rod.
TILBURY EAST BEACH: Some better flounder on the flood.
TILBURY WORLD’S END: The odd flounder and some small whiting.
THURROCK LAKESIDE: A 7lb cod, and flounder and whiting in deep water.
COLDHARBOUR LANE RAINHAM: The off flounder to worm baits.
GRAVESEND: Graham East at Dolphin Angling reports flounder, small whiting the odd codling and a 4lb bass.
MORRISON’S JETTY, ERITH: Eddie Sharp reports the first of the codling and some good flounder.
THAMESMEAD: Lee reports a fair number of good flounder, seven totalling 10lb.
