RUGBY: Thurrock T-Chicks hosted Aylesford Under 15 girls on Sunday afternoon with their biggest crowd so far. Aylesford along with London Irish are 2 of the best teams in the country and showed their class at Oakfield on Sunday.
The game started with a number of quick tries from Aylesford which continued through the game. Hard work by Jessica Mead and Megan Wilson stopped a number of breakaway tries just before the line but excellent support play from Aylesford allowed them to get more points.
The game continued in the good spirit of the game and the T-Chicks never lost heart or enthusiasm towards the game when many teams would have just given up. The girls improved as the game went on with scrums and positioning much better. Some great tackling was put in by Lauren Shirley, Emmi McGill and Becky Sheridan. Captain Emily Gerret Morgan and Jamie Love worked the hardest throughout motivating the team.
The T-Chicks have a number of easier games left to play against newly formed teams along with maybe the toughest yet, London Irish away.
The girls are still loving their first year of rugby and are travelling from William Edwards, Gable Hall and Gateway to get to Thurock RFC.
If any girl aged 12-18 is interested in joining then please contact Mercedes on 01375374877 or foym@williamedwards.org.uk
