RYMAN PREMIER: Orlando Smith’s 65th minute winner gave Ryman Premier Aveley a brilliant win against a Horsham side who started the day unbeaten in their last ten matches.
It was enough to lift Millers clear of the relegation zone and, but for some wasteful finishing, the margin of their victory would have been greater.
Aveley, who started the day in 20th and serving under their third manager in nine months, named a squad which contained just three of the players who were there for the opening day stalemate between these two teams.
And the decisive moment on Saturday came courtesy of Smith, who has shown a return to his early-season form since the arrival of new manager Carl Griffiths. The goal saw Smith pick-up the ball on the right and take a touch before drilling a low, hard shot into the bottom corner.
Aveley: McCartney, Andrews, Udoji, Beany, Harrison, Russell, Smith, Slatter, Llewellyn, Dadson, Howell.
