RUGBY: TEES under 12s travelled to Chelmsford on Sunday.
In the first of two games Chelmsford started much brighter and their efforts were rewarded with two tries, both of which were converted.
Owain Batley scored a consolation try for Thurrock and kicked the extra points. The final score was 14-7 to Chelmsford.
After a short break and a few changes Thurrock set out to make amends for the earlier defeat.
A more determined effort from the forwards put Thurrock close to the opposition line and a break from the pack by Daniel Allison saw him take the ball over the line for a Thurrock try.
Batley again kicked the points.
Chelmsford got back into the game with a try of their own before a superb individual try from Thurrock’s Braunnan Cotter.
Collecting the ball from Owain Batley close to Thurrock’s own try line, Cotter ran the full length of the pitch with four Chelmsford players in hot pursuit, none of whom were able to catch him before he dived across the line. The kick was converted and with no further score, Thurrock reversed the defeat with a 14-7 win of their own.
