RYMAN ONE NORTH: East Thurrock’s title hopes were dealt a blow after a disappointing 2-1 home defeat to Heybridge Swifts. This defeat saw Needham Market replace them at the top of the table, and the Marketmen have three games in hand.
The winner came 20 minutes from the final whistle and was hotly disputed by Rocks.
Chris Bryan appeared to be offside and his cross looked like it went out of play, but neither was given and Luke Callendar shot home from six yards via the cross bar.
Former Concord man Russell Pond had already equalised for Swifts in the 59th minute, after Kris Newby had put the hosts in front with a direct free kick on 11 minutes.
East Thurrock: Wray, Sheehan, Keith, Wood, Sammons, Newby, Gilbey, Moguo, Cornhill, Ruel, Wixon.
