Aveley 3, Harrow Borough 2 Ryman Premier: Debutant Kayan Kalipha came off the bench to keep Aveley’s slim survival hopes alive with victory over Harrow Borough.

The Millers got off to the perfect start when Daniel Francis was put through by another debutant in Jack Stevenson and the striker’s low shot went through the legs of Harrow keeper Jack Bonham.

Francis doubled his afternoon’s tally after 27 minutes when he chipped the backpedalling Bonham into the top corner despite getting a hand to the effort.

Returning goalkeeper Dave McCartney pulled off a save to deny Steve Ferguson as he cut in from the left, before the visitors pulled one back when Garry Jones’ driiled cross powered past McCartney from close range.

And Dave Anderson’s side could have levelled when Buckle struck the post with a 25-yard effort on the stroke of half-time.

But with 56 minutes on the clock Harrow clawed themselves level when a left-wing cross found substitute Simeon Akinola and he shot low into the net.

Danny Leech almost put the visitors in front when McCartney’s punch fell straight to Leech and his lobbed effort fell onto the roof of the net.

Kalipha was then introduced for Dee Okojie and it proved the dream start when he turned and spun on the spot and fired home from the edge of the box.

It was a nervy finale for the hosts and had to be thankful when Sam Holloway cleared off the line from Leech’s effort but they held out for the win.
