BOXING: Two Chadwell St Mary Boxers have made it through to the semi finals of the Elite Senior ABA Championships.

Kieran Redding, 20, (60kg) and Jack Healy, 20, (67kg) boxed in the quarter finals on Sunday at the Halfway House Brentwood.

Redding was first to box against Ryan Hart from Mayflower A.B.C.

It took Redding the first round to work out his very awkward switch hitter opponent, but in the second and third round he was clearly the dominating boxer landing several clean heavy shots. Kieran showed great maturity in this prestigious competition by remaining very focused throughout the 3x3 minute rounds securing his place in the semi finals.

Jack Healy boxed against the more experienced and more mature boxer Richie Gammon from City Of Gloucester ABC.

Healy really put on a show and out classed his very gutsy opponent with perfectly timed very fast combinations of shots. Healy breezed through all three rounds and was clearly in control of the bout.

Club Chairperson Sindy Overy was delighted with the results and stated that both boys are an absolute credit to the club.

The semi finals will be held at the Sudbury Sport Hall Sudbury on March 31.

Chadwell St Mary Boxing Club have really made their mark in Amateur Boxing this season already with A schoolboy Champion Levi Lee 13yrs 52kg, A female A.B.A Champion Valerian Spicer 57kg Mikey Moloney hopefully will regain his title in the Junior A.B.A’s later in the season and now Kieran and Jack in the semi finals of the elite senior A.B.A Championships all this could not be possible without the dedication from our boxers as well as our dedicated coaching team that give up freely all their spare time to put this club well and truly on the map.
