FISHING: MICK Noakes made hay while the sun shone to claim victory in the Warren's Sunday match.
The recent decent weather has seen fishing start to improve at the Stanford le Hope lake.
And Noakes capitalised by landing a 51lb 12oz haul of bream and tench on the pole from peg 14.
He started slowly following a cold night but sport got better once the sun broke through.
Second place went to Stan Howard, who caught 29lb 9oz of skimmers and bream on the quivertip from peg 26.
Two pegs up was Mark Henry, who claimed third place with 22lb 8oz bag made up mainly of quality tench.
The matches continue on Sunday with a 7.45am meet for an 8am draw. Entry is £10 plus a day ticket which is payable on the bank.
