Procter and Gamble and the Thurrock Gazette have teamed up to give cash to worthy community causes as part of the company’s Community Matters campaign – and now it’s time for the big vote.

P&G, which has a huge base in West Thurrock, recently announced a 10-year partnership with the international Olympic Committee, starting with London 2012. And P&G are looking to help local schools who will benefit from receiving a cash grant for their sports projects.

P&G has a fund of £25,000, divided into two categories:
* Children aged up to 10 years in primary schools. 1st prize £3,000, 2nd prize £2,000, 3rd prize £1,000, with 13 £500 runner-up prizes.
* Children (11-16 years) in senior schools. 1st prize £3,000, 2nd prize £2,000, 3rd prize £1,000, with 13 £500 runner up prizes.

Following an application process in the Gazette, there are now 14 schools and nurseries hoping to pick up top prizes in the “aged up to 10” category and five bidding for cash in the “11 to 16 years” category.

Who gets the top prizes is up to you. Voting is now closed. Winners will then be invited to a ceremony to receive their donation.
